Remembering Battle Royale

Yesterday after school (and after getting 14P in a maths test), my bff said, “If we’d all be each against each other, I’d win” — which reminded me of Battle Royale. And how I did associate my bff with a character from that book — the most intelligent one, yet, who died. I offered him to take the book for reading, but it’s not like he’d accept — he doesn’t read books often, too much other stuff to do, given that even on weekends, he’s away meeting up with his gf who lives in another town.

Later in the tram to home, I was browsing through my memories from the book. And I remembered the most powerful, the most tragic and cruel scene from all: the 4 girls in the lighthouse. How because of one cowardly girl, in less than 5 minutes all 4 have killed each other. I thought, I don’t ever want to read that scene again. Never ever.

Favourite songs of top artists

I decided to do this kind of post, thinking this could turn out interesting. Basically, I look onto my last.fm profile, and post my favourite song from each of my Top Listened To artists. last.fm shows 8 of them on the profiles, so that makes 8 songs with optional short commentary.

8. Yann Tiersen

This is the man who made the soundtrack for Amélie, a movie I will never forget.

7. Devin Townsend

Picking one song has been very difficult, but I decided on this one because I just love Devin’s opera voice here. Debi was the one provoking me to check this guy out, but I ended up getting addicted to it for reals (no pun intended).

6. Vernian Process

Steampunk. I don’t know why I love it, but I am insanely attracted to things from the Victorian era (costumes, machines, etc). And perhaps Steamboy shaped that love too. Vernian Process is a fine band.

5. John Williams

He made music for Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones. And I love HP’s OST. (And owls)

4. Dr. Steel

Extrange led me to this addiction. Dr. Steel is labeled as steampunk and industrial, but Dr. Steel is actually Dr. Steel. Unique, and a little bit aggressive.

3. Johnny Hollow

While this song is a cover from a song by The Doors, I like this version much more than the original. Johnny Hollow produce music that resonates with my mind in tunes and content — it was there with me when I needed it the most. I am thankful for that.

2. Fieldtriqp

Unfortunately none of their songs are available on YouTube. That is sure strange, because all their songs are free for download. Anyway, I can say for sure, my favourite is among others, ‘elk beach’.

Fieldtriqp can be mellow, and can be tense. And some of their tunes give me goosebumps. Like Devin Townsend, this initially was recommended by Debi.

1. Enigma

I know Enigma from my childhood. I love Enigma from my childhood. Nothing is like Enigma, and Enigma is unlike anything else. I doubt anything can describe my love for Michael Cretu’s creation. And this song is my favourite.

Tagging

I think that for this kind of post, the tagging technique is quite appropriate. So I will tag 5 people I would like to see a post like this from!

Ryan, Extrange, mefloraine, Debi and Sylias

I don’t know whether I should explain why I picked those, so yeah. I’m curious. Curiosity killed the cat but Eugen got away.

Morphing Thru Time

It is amazing how this is probably the only album I don’t have: Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi. Because it has this song which has been my favourite for the past year, listening to it on last.fm and YouTube.

Alice

I find this trilogy highly interesting and well-done.

I played around with SAI too.

I plan to do some clean fan art this weekend. (This is sketchy~sketchy, too sketchy orz)

Stillste Stund

When I was browsing De_JaY’s friends on last.fm, I thought to find people I may know from Twitter but didn’t add on last.fm yet. I found Sylias, a name which I heard quite often. Well, last.fm told me my compatibility with him is about 98%, so I checked some of his favourite artists out, and… found this. ♥
